Summary of the 8th Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil–NY - 2010
The 8th Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil – NY, oficial event of New York’s Summer calendar, returned to Manhattan from the 5th until the 12th of June to present the films which best portrayed the Brazilian cinematographic industry in 20209/2010.
During 8 days, the public sold out all the sessions at the Tribeca Cinemas to watch national productions, which were still unseen in the Brazilian commercial circuit and all of them New York Premières. After the screenings the party carried on at the Lounge Inffinito, with performances by the DJ Marcelo Brasil and the presence of special guests.
The closing night, at the Central Park SummerStage on June 12th, had a concert by the band Os Paralamas do Sucesso, with a special guest appearance by Maria Gadú and the screening of the documentary Oscar Niemeyer – Life Is a Blow, as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Brazil’s capital, Brasilia. The documentary Queen of Brazil by Fernanda Tornaghi and Ricardo Bruno was voted the best film in competition and was awarded the Crystal Lens.
