


Opening night at the 2nd Brazilian Film Festival of London
Excitement and emotion marked the opening night of the 2nd Brazilian Film Festival of London last night (Sept 1st) at BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
The crowd, which was approximately 90% English, sold out the cinema and had a very positive response to “Lula, the Son of Brazil”, directed by Fábio Barreto. Among the guests were Sir Ben Kinglsey, Lucy Barreto, Paula Barreto, Fernando Meirelles and Mariza Leão.
Starting today and continuing through the 5th, Apollo Picadilly will be screening ten feature films, all in competition. Southbank Center will hold a screening of documentaries about music. On the festival’s closing night, the best film as selected by the audience will we presented with the Cristal Lens Award.
