Balance of the 15th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami– 2011

In 2011 the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami celebrated its fifteen years of success as the preeminent showcase of Brazilian films abroad. It presented a wide-ranging program with Brazilian films never seen before in Miami in three different sections: Competitive Screenings, at the Colony Theatre as well as Tribute and Documentary Screenings at the Miami Beach Cinematheque.

More than 40 films produced in 2010/2011 were presented, among them fictions, documentaries and a tribute to Arnaldo Jabor with a series of titles especially selected to represent his far-reaching career.

On Closing Night, the Crystal Lens Award was presented in 18 categories. Vips, by Toniko Melo and The True Story of the Ballerina in Red by Alessandra Colasanti and Samir Abujambra, where considered the best films of the year by the official Jury. Head Over Heels, by Roberto Santucci and The Cake by Robert Guimarães won the prize by Public Jury. After the ceremony, The Supreme Happiness by Arnaldo Jabor was presented hors concours.
