
5th BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF MIAMI
May 19th to May 26th 2001
The 2001 edition of the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami brought together thousands of people for an open-air screening on the beach of Miami Beach, and at the Multiplex Regal Cinema during the nine days that screened the official selection of films this year.
The event received massive coverage by major U.S. and Brazilian media, including: CNN, MGM, HBO, WLRN, Channel 41 (Teleart), Univision, Telemundo, SBT, Canal Brasil, Rede Bandeirantes, Rede Globo, Variety, Miami Herald, New times, El Nuevo Herald, Miami Today, Jornal do Brasil, O Globo, Folha de São Paulo and O Estado de São Paulo.
In terms of business, the festival presented the first annual BR MarketPlace, an audiovisual business fair with the presence of a variety of industry professionals, including representatives from big American studios, independent local producers and Brazilian audiovisual authorities and suppliers. The MarketPlace offers an opportunity for interaction between international professionals from the current film industry.

Open Air Cinema: Projection of the popular choice winners from
the 4th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami: Hunter´s Moon, by

May 20th until May 25th – Competitive Screenings
Screenings of films in competition followed by debates with
the films respective representatives.
Venue: Regal South Beach Cinema
May 21th until May 26th - Marketplace
The Brazilian Film Festival of Miami is recognized by the Brazilian
Ministry of Culture as a market and business festival. The event is
part of the Apex/Sicesp agreement, which acts towards the
development
of Brazilian cinema visibility and business in several
festivals around the world.
