

Summary of the 3rd Cine Fest Brasil–Canudos - 2010
The 3rd Cine Fest Brasil- Canudos, which took place from the 19th until the 2nd of May, packed Canudos’ Central Square during the five days of the event, which screened the best of Brazilian cinema. Ffilms produced in 2009/2010, amongst short and feature films were screened completely free of charge. The films chosen for the festival awakened the audience’s interest and brought satisfaction and happiness to the public.
The program also counted with Sounds of Canudos, a project aiming at the valorization of the cultural traditions of Bahia’s countryside through daily performances of various musical groups.
The festival has already become a regional event, bringing people from surrounding towns such as Uauá and Monte Santo. The 3rd Cine Fest Brasil-Canudos, has accomplished its mission of bringing not only cultural inclusion through the screening of Brazilian movies but also a more expressive and permanent community-based work, through the workshops of the project B-A-BÁ do Cinema Nacional and the creation of the first Inffinito Cine Club, a gift from the festival and from the city’s mayor’s office.
The opening of the space contributed to making the city leave the sad statistic of being inside the 92% of Brazilian cities which do not have a cinema. Reflecting on its social and cultural impact, the festival had huge repercussion in the national media, which noticed the social, economic and political importance of the 3rd Cine Fest Brasil-Canudos.
