1st Brazilian Film Festival
of China
June 17 to 25, 2006
The Brazilian
Film Festival of China will be held in
order to create a distribution market and the
marketing of Brazilian audiovisual industry in
Asia, aiming for the promotion of Brazil’s
economical, social and cultural development in
these countries.
China is the third largest country in the world
in the film production industry, in which only
the United States and India come before. In 2004,
212 movies were produced and the movie theaters
from all over the world made 180 million dollars.
In 2005, we celebrated 100 years of the Chinese
cinema, which with the recent various productions
and great amount of independent movies, has shown
how cinematographers have been trying to understand
and explain huge political, economical and cultural
changes the country has been facing. And it is
through the cinema that the Chinese seek for world
recognition.
Therefore, we will be taking our movies to China,
in an exhibition that will take place inside the
renowned Shanghai International Film and TV Festival,
allowing the Festival captivated audience to have
access to our productions.
Our goal is to generate cultural exchange in order
to create a potential distribution market for
our movies in China; proceeding with the dissemination
of our cinema around the world as well as strengthening
our cultural identity even more.
The First Brazilian Film Festival of China will
show the best of the national film production
of 2005/2006. These productions, never seen in
the country, will compete for the feature film
award.
